DUSHANBE, 15.12.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Barotali Hamidzoda met with the UN Special Rapporteur Siobhan Mullally, who specializes in human trafficking, especially trafficking of women and children.
The parties exchanged views on cooperation in preventing human trafficking and illegal migration.
Hamidzoda noted that Tajikistan is constantly taking the necessary legal and organizational measures to establish an effective fight against human trafficking.
In this context, Tajikistan’s law “On Combating Human Trafficking and Providing Support to Victims of Human Trafficking” was adopted in 2014 in order to organize the fight against human trafficking and protect and assist victims of trafficking.
Along with the governmental decree in 2019, the government also approved the National Plan to Combat Trafficking of Persons in Tajikistan for 2019-2021.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has organized special courses and regular training sessions at the Ministry’s Academy in order to increase the level of knowledge and professional skills of employees of internal affairs bodies and other law enforcement agencies in the field of combating human trafficking.
