CSTO General Staff Discuss Peacekeeping Operation in Kazakhstan

DUSHANBE, 10.01.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the CSTO countries via videoconference discussed the situation in Kazakhstan and the actions of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the organization, reported the Press Service of the CSTO Joint Staff.
“On January 9, under the general leadership of the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, a video conference was held with the participation of representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the CSTO member states,” the organization said.
All CSTO states promptly sent military contingents to Kazakhstan at the request of its head of state. The CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces include units of the armed forces of Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
The Joint Staff in collaboration with the CSTO Secretariat developed documents approved by the Collective Security Council, the CSTO Council of Defense Ministers on measures aimed at normalizing the situation in Kazakhstan, on the formation of the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces and on conducting peacekeeping operations in Kazakhstan.
