Tajikistan Receives Over Million Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine

DUSHANBE, 18.01.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – A large batch of the vaccine from the American company Moderna was delivered to Tajikistan as part of the COVAX program.
According to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population, on January 17, more than 1 million doses of the vaccine were shipped.
This is the first batch of the vaccine against COVID-19 received in Tajikistan this year.
According to the decision of the Republican COVID-19 Prevention Commission, vaccination against coronavirus in Tajikistan for citizens from the age of 18 is mandatory.
Tajikistan has received more than 9 million doses of vaccine as part of the global COVAX mechanism and in the form of humanitarian aid.
The citizens have been vaccinated against coronavirus with Sputnik V, AstraZeneca, CoronaVac, Moderna and Pfizer.
According to the latest data, 68.6% of the adult population has received the first dose, and 57% has received the second dose of the vaccine.
There have been 17,950 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tajikistan.
Earlier, Tajik authorities announced the beginning of the revaccination campaign.
The recipients of the third dose of the vaccine will be doctors, then teachers, civil servants, and vulnerable groups of the population.
