Prosecutor General’s Office Opens Criminal Case Against Kyrgyz Border Guards

DUSHANBE, 03.02.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The Prosecutor General’s Office of Tajikistan has opened a criminal case against the border guards of Kyrgyzstan after the armed conflict which had occured on January 27. This was announced yesterday during a press conference by the Prosecutor General Yusuf Rahmon.
“The Prosecutor General’s Office of Tajikistan has opened a criminal case in connection with the recent border incidents. Border guards and some other citizens of Kyrgyzstan have been charged with certain crimes, and an investigation is underway,” said Rahmon.
According to him, as a result of the border conflict that had occurred in April of 2021, a case has also been initiated. Some individuals have been identified and detained, others are on the wanted list.
“We will definitely bring them to justice,” Rahmon stressed.
Conflict broke out between the border guards of the two countries on the section of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border on January 27, 2022 as a result of which 10 people from the Tajik side were injured, of which 6 are military personnel and 4 from the civilian population. Two were killed.
Currently, the situation on the Tajik and Kyrgyz border is stable. The causes and factors of the border conflict are being studied by a joint commission of the relevant structures of both sides.
