President Emomali Rahmon: Trade Between Tajikistan and Russia Increased by Over 46% in Five Months of 2022

DUSHANBE, 29.06.2022 (NIAT Khovar) — The mutual trade turnover between Tajikistan and Russia for the five months of 2022 increased by more than 46.2%. Such data was given by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on June 28 during a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Dushanbe.
“Russia remains our leading trade and economic partner. Over the five months of this year, mutual trade increased by more than 46.2%” compared to the same period last year,” Rahmon said.
He noted that at present almost 80 regions of Russia have business and other ties with Tajikistan.
According to the Russian Trade Mission in Tajikistan, the trade turnover between Tajikistan and Russia in 2021 exceeded $1.3 billion.
“In 2021, according to official statistics, our trade turnover amounted to $1.352 billion. This indicator not only exceeded all pre-pandemic values, but became a historical maximum over the past 10 years. The trade turnover between our countries increased by 39% over the year,” said earlier in an interview with TASS the head of the Russian Trade Mission in Tajikistan Evgeny Korenkov.
Also, according to him, the supply of Tajik products to Russia amounted to $72.5 million, an increase compared to 2020 by 77% in monetary terms and almost 70% in physical terms. Some of the main Tajik imports to Russia in 2021 were cotton and yarn, as well as hosiery made from cotton yarn, clothing, and footwear. Imports of these products to Russia amounted to more than $50 million, an increase of 72.6% and 66.5%, respectively, compared to 2020.
