DUSHANBE, 19.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Statements by the Taliban movement that they would take concrete measures and fight against the production of narcotic substances have not yielded any clear results, and so the flow of drugs into Tajikistan has not decreased. The promise made by the Taliban leadership has not been fulfilled, said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan Ramazon Rahimzoda today during a press conference.
In the first half of 2022, internal affairs bodies of Tajikistan seized a ton of narcotic drugs, including 54 kg of heroin, 402 kg of opium, 403 kg of hashish, and 128 kg of marijuana.
The geographical proximity to Afghanistan, where there are training camps for militants of terrorist organizations seeking to spread their activities to the territory of the countries of Central Asia, including Tajikistan, propaganda of the ideas of religious extremism and terrorism via the Internet, recruitment of young people into the ranks of international terrorist organizations, attempts to plan and carry out terrorist acts by these organizations in Tajikistan remain the main threats to the country’s security and that of the region.
