Tajikistan and Russia Resume Passenger Rail Traffic

DUSHANBE, 19.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan and Russia are resuming passenger rail traffic, reports Rohi Ohani Tojikiston (Tajik Railways).
Trains will run from August 30 from Dushanbe and Khujand to Volgograd every week.
Rohi Ohani Tojikiston explained that passenger traffic is being resumed after a two-year break.
“The decision was made within the framework of the visit of the head of the Rohi Ohani Tojikiston to Russia and his meeting with the leadership of Russian Railways,” the department said.
Regarding the cost and conditions of travel, there is no information yet.
According to Sputnik Tajikistan, the train will run from Dushanbe on Tuesdays, and from Volgograd to Dushanbe on Fridays.
Trains from Khujand will depart on Wednesdays, and from Volgograd on Saturdays.
The first train from Khujand to Volgograd will depart on September 7.
The movement of trains between Tajikistan and Russia was temporarily suspended on March 17, 2020 due to the spread of the coronavirus infection.
