DUSHANBE, 21.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Promotion of the ideology of religious radicalism in Central Asia is a serious challenge. This was stated today by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the Fourth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia in Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyzstan), reports TASS.

“The most serious challenge is the promotion of the extremely destructive ideology of religious radicalism in Central Asia. The most dangerous for our society is the tendency to strengthen the position of Salafism and Wahhabism,” he emphasized.

President Emomali Rahmon said that various forces continue to hatch plans to destabilize the situation in the Central Asian region.

“Recent events in our countries indicate that various forces are still hatching plans to destabilize the region,” he said.

Accoridng to him, these events show that certain forces, including through social networks, continue to try to involve citizens in protest actions.

Rahmon also noted that the Taliban* did not take steps to convince the world community of the legitimacy of their power in Afghanistan.

“Over the past time, the leadership of the Taliban has not taken real steps to convince the world and the population of Afghanistan of the legitimacy of their power, the ability to control the situation in the country, ensure the safety of their citizens, and resolve emerging socio-economic issues,” Emomali Rahmon said.

According to him, the leadership of the Taliban is pursuing an aggressive policy of discrimination against various ethnic groups in Afghanistan.

“The Taliban are pursuing a policy of aggressive discrimination against various ethnic groups and rigid religious conservatism,” Emomali Rahmon stated.

He also drew the attention of the participants to the recent statement by the Taliban leadership about the abolition of all current legislative acts in the country and the intention to universally introduce Sharia law in all spheres of Afghan society.
