Tajik Interior Minister Rahimzoda Attends Meeting of the SCO Ministers of Internal Affairs in Tashkent

DUSHANBE, 19.08.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan Ramazon Rahimzoda attended and delivered speech in the fourth meeting of the ministers of internal affairs and public security of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Tashkent.
The meeting was attended by ministers and representatives of the ministries of internal affairs and public security of the SCO member states, as well as permanent bodies of the SCO, representatives of the SCO observer states and international organizations, including Interpol, the Bureau for Coordination Combating Organized Crime, CIS Antiterrorist Center.
The interior ministers exchanged views on issues of international and regional security, further development of cooperation in the field of countering terrorism, extremism, separatism, and transnational organized crime.
The meeting participants spoke in favor of further strengthening cooperation within the SCO through the ministries of internal affairs and public security of the participating countries, taking into account the growing instability in the international arena.
The ministers stressed that the expansion of cooperation in the fight against terrorism, extremism and separatism, illicit trafficking in drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as in the protection of peace, stability and security in the SCO space is a very priority and important.
“We must focus our efforts against the three undesirable manifestations of terrorism, extremism and separatism, as they pose a threat to the security and stability of the whole world, including the SCO member countries. Thanks to timely measures, as well as cooperation and coordination of law enforcement agencies, Tajikistan has achieved significant results in the fight against these negative phenomena,” Rahimzoda said in his speech.
He also emphasized that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan expresses its constant readiness for cooperation in the field of combating the modern dangers and threats.
The ministers unanimously stressed the importance of open dialogue and practical cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime.
Following the meeting, ministers signed protocol.
On the sidelines of the meeting in Tashkent, Rahimzoda met with the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulan Niyazbekov, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Marat Akhmedzhanov, and the Minister of State for Home Affairs of India Nityanand Rai.
The meetings focused on issues of cooperation in the field of combating crime, searching for wanted criminals, preventing drug trafficking, illegal migration and information security, as well as training highly qualified personnel.
The parties also exchanged views on the development and expansion of cooperation in the field of combating crime and other topics of interest.
