Tajik Judokas Win Bronze Medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Turkiye

DUSHANBE, 18.08.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in the city of Konya, the national judo team of Tajikistan won a bronze medal in the team competition. The Olympic team of Tajikistan has eight medals.
Tajikistan was supposed to grapple with Uzbekistan in the team marathon, but the judokas of Uzbekistan refused to participate in the competition. In the quarter-finals, Tajik judokas beat the Senegal team and lost to the Azerbaijani team in the semi-finals. They then beat Kazakhstan in the match for third place.
The games will end today with the summing up of the results of karate, archery, and kickboxing competitions. Tajik athletes continue to compete in karate. The closing ceremony of the games will take place tonight.
According to the results, Turkiye with 303 medals (127 gold, 97 silver, 79 bronze) leads the standings. Uzbekistan is in second place with 46 gold, 38 silver, and 56 bronze medals (140 medals), and Iran is in third place with 38 gold, 41 silver, and 48 bronze medals (127 medals).
Tajikistan ranks 29th among 56 participating countries with 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
