Seoul hosts Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea on trade and economic cooperation

DUSHANBE. October 21, 2022 /NIAT «Khovar»/. Seoul hosted the fifth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea on trade and economic cooperation under the co-chairs of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Zavqi Zavqizoda and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
The discussion focused on the implementation of projects in priority areas of the national economy, such as industry, energy, transport, healthcare, agriculture, digital economy, climate change, tourism, and labor migration.
While noting Tajikistan’s special attention to strengthening trade and economic cooperation and investment with South Korea, Zavqizoda expressed graduate to the South Korean side for financing sectors of the national economy, including placing Tajikistan in the list of priority countries for investment in the next five years and the establishment of a permanent representation of KOICA in Tajikistan.
In addition, the representatives of South Korea were invited to develop a joint project for the establishment of enterprises for the production of machinery and electronic equipment, batteries, pharmaceutical products, cotton processing, fiber, silk, wool, agricultural products, and fish farming.
The parties agreed to sign four bilateral agreements between the relevant agencies of the countries and significantly increase bilateral trade and investment. At the same time, a memorandum on cooperation was signed between Mohii Tojik Corporation and the South Korea innovative company NeoN Biz in the field of intelligent fish farming.
