Emomali Rahmon Names Celebration of the State Flag Day Honoring the Outstanding Merits of the Great Sons of Tajik People

DUSHANBE, 24.11.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon named the celebration of the State Flag Day a tribute to the selfless merits of the sons of the Tajik people.
“The celebration of the State Flag Day is a honoring the outstanding merits of the great sons of our people and bowing of the head to their bright and eternal memory – Kurushi Kabir, Ismoili Somoni, Sherak, Devashtich, Spitamen, Mukanna, Temurmalik, Rudaki, Firdavsi, hundreds of thousands of other glorious men who, throughout the millennia-long history of our nation, selflessly fought for the honor and dignity of the nation, the protection of the land inherited from the ancestors, the language, culture, customs and traditions of our ancient people, thanks to which they have come down to our time,” said Emomali Rahmon.
Indeed, the State Flag of independent Tajikistan is a source of pride and a guide for every patriotic citizen who is aware of his national mentality, every year the day of the adoption of the flag is celebrated with an infinite sense of pride and respect for this symbol of our independent state.
The adoption of the State Flag gave us the opportunity to take a fresh look at the content and essence of the life of our state and society, draw inspiration from the history of our people and confidently move towards the bright future of our state and the people of Tajikistan.
In this regard, President stressed that, therefore, the veneration of the State Flag as one of the sacred symbols of our independent Fatherland is considered the human and civic duty of every member of our society, especially adolescents and youth of the country, therefore, it is necessary to educate from childhood in every person and capture in the soul every resident of the country a sense of pride for him.
The State Flag was adopted as the first symbol of the independent state of Tajiks on November 24, 1992 at the XVI session of the fateful Council.
Today, the flag of Tajikistan, along with other flags of the United Nations member states, flies in front of the building of this organization.
In order to honor this national sacred symbol, by the Presidential Decree dated November 20, 2009, November 24 was declared the State Flag Day. Since that year, this date has been celebrated in the country with special grandeur.
On August 30, 2011, the flag of Tajikistan was raised on a special flagpole in Dushanbe. Its height was 165 meters, in the same year it was considered the highest flagpole of the State Flag in the world and entered the Guinness World Records.
