Tajikistan and World Bank Discuss Implementation of the Strategy for Green Economy Development

DUSHANBE, 09.11.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavki Zavkizoda met with the Executive Director at the World Bank Group Dominique Favre, representing the constituency of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Poland, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Switzerland.
The meeting focused on the strategy for the development of the green economy in Tajikistan for 2023-2037.
Zavkizoda noted that Tajikistan appreciates the support of the World Bank as a reliable partner in the development of important sectors of the national economy.
He also provided information on the macroeconomic indicators of the country, the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in Tajikistan under the influence of the negative consequences of today’s global and energy crises, and climate change.
He also invited the World Bank to assist in increasing the financing of priority sectors of the national economy of Tajikistan, measures of the anti-crisis plan of the government, the implementation of the construction project of the Rogun HPP, the strategy for the development of the green economy for 2023-2037, the medium-term program for the development of the digital economy for 2021-2025, macroeconomic modeling and forecasting, which was positively received.
The parties expressed their readiness to implement these issues.
