Cultivation, Processing, Certification of Cotton and Yarn Discussed in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 16.02.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – The issues of cultivation, processing, certification of cotton and yarn, as well as export of light industry products were discussed in Dushanbe during the first high-level meeting on the presentation of the upcoming draft National Strategy for the Development, Production and Processing of Cotton and Textile Industry.
It was noted that the development of the cotton and textile industry is included in the fourth strategic goal of Tajikistan and considered as one of the priority areas for the development of the country’s economy.
The meeting was organized per initiative of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture.
It was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, the diplomatic corps accredited in Dushanbe, development partners, donors, as well as independent industry experts.
Steps have been taken by industry experts to develop the above strategy.
The participants voiced their proposals and recommendations for the development of the strategy.
