UN Resident Coordinator Assesses Tajikistan’s Role in Combating Drug Trafficking in the Region

DUSHANBE, 15.02.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – The role of Tajikistan in the fight against drug trafficking in the region is important. This assessment was given by the UN Resident Coordinator for Tajikistan Kavilmadam Ramaswami Parvathy at a meeting with the Director of the Drug Control Agency Zafar Samad.
During the meeting, it was provided information on the drug situation in Tajikistan and the region, the activities of the republic’s law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and prevent drug addiction.
Proposals were also made to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking and intensify the prevention of drug addiction in Tajikistan.
The parties expressed concern about the growth trend of synthetic drugs in recent years.
They also expressed readiness to further expand cooperation in the field of drug control and drug addiction prevention.
