Dushanbe Hosts a Regular Meeting of the Tajik and Kazakh Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation

DUSHANBE, 19.07.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, Dushanbe hosted a regular meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan on economic cooperation.
The meeting was chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Hokim Kholikzoda and First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar.
As part of the regular meeting, Kholikzoda hold a meeting with Sklyar.
The meeting focused on the situation and prospects for intergovernmental cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in areas of mutual interest, as well as issues on the agenda of the next meeting of the Commission.
It was noted that cooperation with Kazakhstan occupies a special place in the foreign policy of Tajikistan, and further strengthening of relations is given paramount importance.
Then the work of the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission continued with the participation of official delegations of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
The meeting focused on issues of further development of intergovernmental cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in the fields of economy and trade, industry, investment and banking, transport, water and energy, agriculture, customs, education and science, culture, healthcare, tourism, youth and sports, migration and employment, ecology and environmental protection.

There was also an exchange of views on the most important issues of regional cooperation.
It was noted that interstate relations between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in all areas are developing steadily, and the results in all areas of cooperation are significant.
It was reported that in 2023, the volume of foreign trade turnover between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan amounted to $1,148,700,000, and in the structure of foreign trade of Tajikistan in 2023, Kazakhstan ranks 4th with a share of 13.8 percent.
The parties expressed their readiness to further increase trade turnover and develop relations in all areas of interest in the spirit of mutual trust and strategic partnership.
Following the meeting, a corresponding new document was signed.
