DUSHANBE, 21.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – Several pivotal documents will be signed at the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation, set to take place in Dushanbe on May 29-31, 2025, as announced at a briefing by the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 20.
Among the key documents to be signed are the Dushanbe Glacier Declaration, which will issue a global call to action urging concerted efforts to address the rapid melting of glaciers and its far-reaching consequences, and a co-chair’s summary, offering a comprehensive report on the conference proceedings.
Additionally, the conference will prepare the Dushanbe Statement on Glaciers, which will outline new initiatives, partnerships, commitments, and financial pledges, including contributions to the Glacier International Year Fund launched during the sessions.
Final versions of these documents will be published on the conference website and widely disseminated to global audiences.
The outcomes of the conference will be presented at several key international forums throughout 2025, including the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, UN Climate Week, and COP-30, with potential contributions to the upcoming UN Water Conference 2026.
This conference is part of the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, declared by the UN at the initiative of Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon, and supported by over 150 UN member states during the 77th UN General Assembly session on December 14, 2022.
