DUSHANBE, 28.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – As part of the side events of the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation, a Pre-Conference Youth Forum will be held tomorrow in Dushanbe, bringing together more than 100 young participants from Tajikistan and several other countries to discuss pressing issues related to glacier preservation and climate action.
The Children and Youth Forum on Glaciers’ Preservation and Climate Action, organized by UNICEF in partnership with the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan, is designed to amplify the voices of children and young people and inspire the next generation of climate leaders.
Participants will include over 100 youth delegates, including 10 international representatives from countries with similar glacial ecosystems, who will engage in dialogue and collaboration on glacier-related challenges and climate solutions.
The forum will feature interactive panels and workshops, offering a unique opportunity for youth to present their ideas directly to policymakers. Notably, the event will be held in a hybrid format, allowing local participants to connect via satellite with peers from other glacier-affected regions worldwide to share experiences, knowledge, and innovative approaches.
The overarching goal of the forum is to empower youth to influence environmental and climate policy. Participants will work together to draft a set of youth-driven recommendations and present a special project proposal on glacier preservation in Tajikistan.
This initiative not only strengthens youth engagement in global climate dialogue but also underscores Tajikistan’s commitment to inclusive and forward-looking environmental action.
