Shanghai Hosts Meeting of Emergency Management Officials from SCO Border Regions

DUSHANBE, 13.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On May 12, the 8th Meeting of Heads of regional emergency management agencies of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States was held in Shanghai. The event took place in a hybrid format under the chairmanship of China.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the relevant agencies from SCO member states, as well as delegates from Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates, and the Beijing Office of the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER).
The participants discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in disaster prevention and response in border regions, enhance preparedness for transboundary risks, improve mechanisms for information sharing, and conduct joint training exercises.
They reaffirmed their commitment to further developing practical cooperation, exchanging experience and best practices in civil protection, and expressed their readiness to increase coordination efforts within regional emergency response frameworks.
