Youth Network on Water and Climate Launched in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 26.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – As part of the upcoming High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation, a special educational program for youth will be presented, aimed at raising awareness of climate change impacts on glaciers and ecosystems. The initiative is led by the Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports under the Government of Tajikistan.
The program includes expert lectures, popular science presentations, documentaries, exhibitions, quizzes, and interactive sessions with scientists.
It also promotes youth participation in expeditions, research, and environmental projects through partnerships with the National Academy of Sciences, the Committee for Environmental Protection, and international organizations.
A Youth Network on Water Resources and Climate has been established under the Committee to unite young people interested in sustainable water management and glaciers’ protection. The network supports educational and scientific initiatives, engages in climate diplomacy platforms, and serves as a space for youth–expert dialogue and collaborative research.
The conference is being held as part of the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, declared by the United Nations following a proposal by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and supported by over 150 UN member states.
