DUSHANBE, 25.12.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On December 23, 2025, at 23:30, three members of a terrorist organization crossed the state border and entered the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan from Afghanistan within the protected area of Border Outpost No. 5 “Bog” of the 0341 “Sarchashma” Border Detachment, located in the Qavoq area of Shamsiddin Shohin District.
As a result of timely operational and search measures, at 11:15 on December 24, 2025, the location of the terrorists on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan was identified.
The terrorists refused to comply with the order of Tajik border guards to surrender and offered armed resistance. They intended to carry out an armed attack on one of the border outposts of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan.
As a result of the combat operation, all three terrorists were neutralized. From the scene, three firearms—an M-16 rifle and a Kalashnikov assault rifle—three foreign-made pistols equipped with suppressors, ten hand grenades, one night-vision device, explosives, and other military equipment were seized.
Regrettably, during the armed clash and the prevention of this terrorist act, two servicemen of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan—Navruzbekov Zirehbon Naghzibekovich and Qurbonov Ismatullo Ghulomovich—were killed.
Over the past month, this is the third incident involving an armed attack, a terrorist act, and the illegal crossing of the state border from Afghanistan into Tajikistan, resulting in the deaths of civilians and military personnel.
These facts demonstrate the Taliban government’s failure to fulfill their international obligations and repeated commitments to ensuring security and stability along the state border with the Republic of Tajikistan and to combating members of terrorist organizations, reflecting serious and recurring irresponsibility.
The Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan hope that the leadership of the Taliban government will offer an apology to the people of Tajikistan and take additional effective measures to ensure security along the border with Tajikistan.
The Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan firmly state that they possess full physical and combat capabilities to ensure the security of the state border. Tajik border guards will continue to resolutely defend the country’s borders against external encroachments and, as always, will deliver a decisive response to terrorist groups, smugglers, and any attempts at border violations from Afghanistan.
At present, the situation along the state border is calm.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
