DUSHANBE, 10.02.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – On February 10, 2026, at approximately 01:20 a.m., within the area of responsibility of the “Darqad” border outpost of Military Unit 0307 of the Border Troops Directorate of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan in Khatlon Region, located in Mir Sayid Ali Hamadoni District, four Afghan drug traffickers illegally crossed the State Border and entered the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan from Afghanistan.

As a result of a combat operation conducted by servicemen of the Border Troops, the route of movement of the offenders was identified and the trafficking of a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs was prevented. One drug trafficker, Avalmir waladi Abdulhakim, approximately 45 years old, a resident of the village of Maidapata, Darqad village, Takhar Province of Afghanistan, was detained. A total of 46 packages of narcotic drugs of the type “hashish” were seized from him.

In addition, two rubber inner tubes were found at the scene, which the traffickers had used while illegally crossing the State Border.

The remaining members of the drug trafficking group managed to flee toward Afghanistan, taking advantage of the darkness of the night. In connection with this incident, a criminal case has been initiated by the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan under Articles 200 (Illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances for the purpose of transfer to another person), 289 (Smuggling), and 335 (Illegal crossing of the State Border of the Republic of Tajikistan) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. The investigation is ongoing.
