FM Muhriddin Meets Korean Counterpart Eui-yong

DUSHANBE, 30.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with his Korean counterpart Chung Eui-yong, who is on an official visit in Tajikistan at the invitation of the Tajik side.
The meeting focused on the state and prospects of Tajik-South Korean relations.
The ministers noted the importance of further maintaining mutual contacts at the high levels, as well as strengthening inter-parliamentary ties and inter-departmental consultations.
They highlighted that the status of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Korea in Tajikistan was elevated to the level of the ambassador.
The officials paid particular attention to cooperation in the field of economy and trade. The parties agreed to put additional effort to increase mutual trade.
The parties signed the Protocol Amending the Convention between Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea for Avoiding of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income, which will expand the package of bilateral agreements.
The ministers also had a comprehensive exchange of views on topical issues on the regional and international agenda.
They also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and its impact on security in the region.
The parties agreed to hold joint events on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Korea next year.
On the topic of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum, the ministers noted the importance of this permanent mechanism for strengthening practical cooperation between the countries.
