Period for Registering SIM Cards with New Passports Extended Yet Again

DUSHANBE, 16.02.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – According to the governmental decree from February 12, 2022, the re-registration of SIM cards with internal passports will be extended until February 15, 2023. This was reported by Ilhomjon Atoev, deputy head of the Communications Service.
According to the governmental decree issued on April 30, 2016 “On the Procedure and Requirements for Connecting to Electric Communication Networks and Providing Services Related to Them,» which entered into force on February 15, all mobile phone subscribers had to re-register their SIM cards with the new format of internal passports which became available in 2014.
«Over 5.4 million SIM cards have been registered in Tajikistan, and 2.4 million SIM card users are still at the stage of re-registration. Of those SIM cards that have not yet been re-registered, 1.8 million are active,» said Atoev.
In accordance with the decree from April 30, 2016, no more than 2 SIM cards can be registered from each mobile service provider under one name.
