DUSHANBE, 26.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – The Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports under the Government of Tajikistan is playing an active role in organizing the upcoming high-level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation.
In line with its mandate, the Committee is responsible for organizing the Youth Forum, forming a volunteer corps, and ensuring broad engagement of young people and adolescents in discussions on climate change and environmental protection.
According to the Committee, more than 300 youth and adolescents from across the country, along with international guests, are expected to take part in the event. Participants will include students from universities, lyceums, colleges, and secondary schools—especially those actively involved in volunteerism and environmental initiatives.
“To facilitate their engagement, we are organizing interactive discussions, panel sessions, training workshops, and master classes with the participation of scientists, experts, and international partners. A platform for open dialogue will be created, allowing every participant to voice their perspectives and contribute to the development of youth-led proposals,” the Committee noted.
This landmark event is being held as part of the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, an initiative put forward by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The initiative was endorsed by more than 150 UN Member States at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly on December 14, 2022.
