Azerbaijan’s humanitarian aid arrived in Tajikistan
Dushanbe, 14.01.2016. (NIAT “Khovar”). – In order to support on elimination of earthquake consequences that occurred on December 7 of last year in Badakhshan region of Tajikistan, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent humanitarian aid to Tajikistan.
The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, co-chairman of Tajik-Azerbaijani intergovernmental joint commission on cooperation Nematullo Hikmatullozoda, speaking at the ceremony of reception of humanitarian aid, expressed gratitude on behalf of Government and people of Tajikistan to the Government of Azerbaijan. He noted that the government of Tajikistan and the Tajik people will never forget assistance of the government and people of fraternal Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tajikistan Abbasali Hasanov said that humanitarian aid, which was sent by the government of Azerbaijan, is a testimony of the historical friendship of our peoples.
The Ambassador stressed that after gaining independence, the foundation of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan was laid by nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and President of Tajikistan, the leader of the Tajik people Emomali Rahmon.
At the ceremony it was noted that the humanitarian aid valued at AZN 800,000 includes 9,5 tons of sugar, 9,5 tons of granulated sugar, 15 tons of rice, 3 tons of tea, more than 16 tons of vegetable oil, 19 tons of flour, 19 tons of vermicelli, 2000 sets of bed linen, 50 generators, 110 tents, 6,00 square meters of iron slate, and 30 cubic meters of boards.
We will remind that as a result of strong earthquake that occurred on December 7 of last year in Badakhshan region, 1327 houses were destroyed or seriously damaged. About thousand people were left homeless. In addition, serious damage was caused to numerous social facilities, libraries and schools of the country.
