Celebration of international Day of Nawruz in Vienna
Dushanbe, 25.03.2016. (NIAT «Khovar»). — On March 24, 2016 the solemn celebration of the International Day of «Nowruz was initiated by the Permanent Mission of Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan at the building of the United Nations Office at Vienna.
Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Reza Najafi addressed to the participants and guests with welcome speech on behalf of the Permanent Missions. The UNOV Deputy Director-General Mr. Dennis Thatchaichawalit conveyed congratulations on behalf of the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Director-General of the United Nations Office in Vienna Mr. Yuri Fedotov.
Representatives from Austrian government bodies, Vienna diplomatic corps, international organizations and other guests took part at this event.
The national exhibitions of the countries were organized during the celebration. In particular, Tajikistan among others introduced «Navruz» traditional dishes and sweets, antique handicrafts «susanne and gulduzi», various types of clothing, as well as introduction materials about the country. Tajik dastarkhan attracted the attention of those present.
