Meeting of the Leader of the Nation with Chief of Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Raheel Sharif
Dushanbe, 01.03.2016 (NIAT «Khovar»). — Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon received General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army.
A wide range of issues of military and political cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan have been discussed.
«We are satisfied with the strengthening of bilateral military co-operation based on mutual understanding and respect for mutual interests,» — said President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the beginning of the talks.
The two sides also exchanged views on the current state and prospects of development of political and military ties between the two countries, stressing the importance of cooperation between national armies and law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan and Pakistan in the fight against modern threats and challenges, including terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.
The interlocutors called the holding of the regular negotiations at the highest level as an effective factor in the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries and creation of a favorable framework in politics, trade, economy, culture, science, education, energy, promotion of joint fundamental projects to enhance regional integration, including the implementation of the project CASA-1000 and ensuring security and stability.
A constructive discussion took place on other issues of friendly relations and cooperation for benefit of the interests of both countries and peoples.
