Xi Jinping and Rashid Alimov discussed the issues of cooperation within SCO
Dushanbe, 01.03.2016. (NIAT «Khovar»). — On February 29, 2016 the President of China Xi Jinping received in Beijing the SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov on the occasion of accession of his position.
During the meeting Xi Jinping noted that «over the past period the Organization transformed into one of the main attractive centers of the multilateral cooperation in the region. The Tashkent summit, in which Member States will evaluate the activity of Organization during the past fifteen years, is particularly important. On the eve of the SCO’s jubilee it is more necessary than ever to strengthen friendship and good neighborliness as well as to adhere to the “Shanghai Spirit», said the Chinese President.
Xi Jinping said that «People’s Republic of China intends to continue to take all necessary efforts for the fulfillment of multilateral cooperation with practical steps and strengthening of capacity building interaction within the Organization».
The Chinese President wished the new Secretary-General of the SCO success in his future work and expressed hope that R.Alimov’s rich experience and knowledge will help the Organization to further develop.
The SCO Secretary-General R. Alimov thanked Xi Jinping for his congratulations and noted that «the traditional position of the Chinese leadership in support of fruitful interaction within the SCO contributes to the strengthening and development of multilateral cooperation, filling it with practical content for the benefit of the peoples of the “Shanghai Family».
