Next meeting of Tajikistan-UAE Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation took place in Dushanbe

Agreement between the two countries, which was signed during the visit of the Leader of the Tajik Nation to UAE, has created a legal framework for the expansion of further cooperation «, — said Qodiri Qosim, Chairman of Tajikistan’s State Committee on Investment and State Property Management during a session of Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for Trade and Economic Cooperation, which took place on April 21 in Dushanbe.
According to Qodiri Qosim, in 2015, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and the United Emirates reportedly valued at 43.1 million U.S. dollars. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to the UAE estimated at 1.6 million U.S. dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from the UAE worth 41.5 million U.S. dollars.
«During the period from 2007 to 2015, investors from the United Arab Emirates invested 159, 3 million U.S dollar in the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan, of which 72.7 million dollars are direct investments and 86.7 million — are loans, attracted by UAE enterprises and companies. Currently, 14 joint enterprises with the UAE are registered in Tajikistan,»- he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of State Investment Committee stressed that cooperation in economic, trade and other spheres between the Republic of Tajikistan and the UAE has a huge untapped potential.
