Tajikistan and Pakistan extradite criminals
Dushanbe, 01.04.2016. (NIAT “Khovar”). Tajikistan and Pakistan are to strengthen the fight against crime. Accordingly, on March 30, the deputies of the Lower House of Parliament of Tajikistan ratified the Agreement on extradition between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
This document provides for the extradition of criminals to whom the legislation of parties applied the deprivation of freedom not less than one year for committing terrorist acts, murder, kidnapping, hostage-taking and other crimes.
According to this Agreement, extradition is not provided in relation to the persons who have committed crimes of political character. The approval of this document by the Parliament of Tajikistan creates a favorable legal framework for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fight against crime and extradition of criminals.
It should be noted that this document was signed in Islamabad on November 12, 2015.
