Dushanbe, 23.06.2016 / NIAT «Khovar» /. The Founder of Peace and National Unity — the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in the margins of the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of State in Tashkent has met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

During the meetings the sides discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the beginning of theconversation, expressing satisfaction with the opportunity of the meeting, said: «We are a supporter of strengthening the modern political system,ensuring in friendly Afghanistan stability and security, we consider it a guarantor of stability and security in Tajikistan and throughout the region.»

The sides expressed satisfaction with the expansion of friendly and mutually beneficial multilateral relations, gradually acquiring new content.

During the meeting it was emphasized that the effective functioning of theJoint Commission on Trade-Economic, Cultural and Technical Cooperation can play an important role in the implementation of mutually beneficial goals.

The need to strengthen joint cooperation in terms of fighting against such region-wide and even global threats as extremism, terrorism and drug trafficking was highlighted.

At the end of the meeting it was hoped that the two fraternal and neighboring states will work together to succeed in the development and expansion of friendly relations.
