Dushanbe, 23.06.2016 / NIAT «Khovar» /. On the afternoon of June 23, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in the margins of the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of State in Tashkent has met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain.

The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that the relations within the SCO further expand opportunities for deepening the comprehensive and regional constructive cooperation of the countries.

The Heads of State also reaffirmed their readiness todevelop and strengthen ties in the spheres of science, education and culture,which to date have been established at the appropriate level.

The issue of expanding the scope of cooperation of Tajikistan and Pakistan on such regionally important sectors as energy, transport and transit were also discussed.

In addition, the implementation of a regional project for the construction of high-voltage transmission line CASA-1000 in Tajikistanwas called an important event in the history of cooperation between the two countries.

The parties stressed that the use of large resources available will allow in the coming years to increase the volume of trade turnover up to 500 mln US dollars.

During the meeting the sides discussed the topical issues, including the fight against modern threats, such as terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.
