Spain beats Turkey to reach last sixteen of Euro 2016
Dushanbe, 18.06.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Spain’s national football team defeated Turkey 3-0 in a match of the second tour of the group stage of the 2016 UEFA Euro Cup and reached last sixteen of the tournament.
The Group D game was held at the Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice.
Alvaro Morata scored in the 34th and 48th minutes and Nolito shot a goal in the 37th minute.
The Spanish team gained six points in two matches and secured for itself participation in the last 16 of the tournament. Earlier, the national teams of France and Italy also reached playoff.
Turkey after two tours was left without points. Group D also has the teams of Croatia (4 points) and the Czech Republic (1 point), which held their second tour match that ended in a 2-2 draw, earlier Friday.
In the next tour, on June 21 Croatia will play Spain and the Czech Republic will the same day play Turkey.
The 2016 UEFA Euro Cup is held in France between June 10 and July 10 with matches played in 10 different locations, namely in Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.
A total of 24 European national teams qualified for the Euro Cup final tournament in 2016, after the contestants’ format, which was used since 1996, was decided to be extended from 16 to 24 teams.
