President Emomali Rahmon participates in session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation in Armenia
Dushanbe, 14.10.2016 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon today in Armenia attended and addressed the session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation.
The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambayev and Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Bakytzhan Sagintayev are taking part in the session.
There were held two sessions, in narrow and extended formats, during which the most pressing problems within agenda of the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council were discussed.
CSTO Collective Security Strategy for the period up to 2025 and additional measures to combat terrorism were discussed during the session.
In his address, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon underlined once again the need for joint and relentless struggle against international terrorism, extremism, violence, fighting drug trafficking, weapons, transnational organized crime.
President of Tajikistan also drew serious attention of the heads of state of the CSTO member states on the current situation in the region and the world, especially the difficult military and political situation in Afghanistan.
According to Emomali Rahmon, the difficult military and political situation in Afghanistan poses a threat and risk to the southern borders of the CSTO member states and represents a threat to regional security and stability.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, emphasizing the need for collective struggle against contemporary regional and global threats and challenges, noted that Tajikistan, given its common position, is at the forefront of combating these phenomena, and in this context supports the progress made in the framework of the CSTO agreement.
At the end of the meeting, a joint statement was adopted by the heads of states of the CSTO member states on joint counteraction against international terrorism and other negative phenomena of society, as well as a number of important documents.
