Tajikistan and Pakistan expand customs cooperation
DUSHANBE, 15.02.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Tajikistan and Pakistan expand customs cooperation. In this regard, the current situation and prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the field of customs affairs were discussed by Abdufattoh Ghoib, the Head of Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and Tariq Iqbal Soomro, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting it was noted that the two countries pay special attention to the issues of strengthening customs activity established on the basis of requirements of the normative-legal documents of international organizations, such as Economic Cooperation Organization, Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation, World Customs Organization and World Trade Organization. The interlocutors have also discussed the issues of transit and collection of customs payments.
Abdufattoh Ghoib noted that the Customs Service of the Republic of Tajikistan effectively using all the existing opportunities in order to develop customs cooperation, creates development base for trade — economic relations between the two countries. It is expected that the draft of Intergovernmental Agreement on Customs Cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan will be developed in the future.
Pakistani diplomat, in turn, said that in the course of his diplomatic mission in Tajikistan will try to expand bilateral beneficial cooperation, especially in the field of strengthening customs cooperation.
