U.S. intends to continue close cooperation with Tajikistan in the field of emergency situations
DUSHANBE, 08.02.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense /CESCD/ under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Rustam Nazarzoda on Tuesday February 7 held a meeting with U.S. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Tajikistan Ms. Elizabeth Millard. NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by the head of the press center of the CESCD Umeda Yusupova.
According to her, the parties have discussed further cooperation in the field of disaster risk reduction, the issues related to informing and warning the population about dangers and risks, as well as establishment of cooperation and implementation of joint projects, possibility of improving the material-technical base of CESCD.
“During the meeting it was noted that the U.S. Embassy will continue to support Tajikistan on the issues of disaster risk reduction, as well as the strengthening of Committee’s capacity”, — said U. Yusupova.
“Our government is always ready to provide full support and assistance to friendly Tajikistan, especially in issues related to the prevention and elimination of emergency situations”, — said E. Millard.
The two parties have agreed that cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States needs to be continued, as it will allow to effectively resolve the issues of disaster risk reduction in the future.
