Foreign Minister Aslov attended the UNGA dialogue to discuss improving the integration and coordination of the work of the United Nations on the water related goals
DUSHANBE, 23.03.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Sirodjidin Aslov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan yesterday, March 22 has participated as a co-moderator in the UN General Assembly Dialogue to discuss improving the integration and coordination of the work of the United Nations on the water related goals and targets of sustainable development.
According to the MFA Information Department, this event was organized by the President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in cooperation with the delegations of Tajikistan and Hungary to the UN in accordance with the recently adopted resolution of the UNGA “The International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028”.
“In his statement, Minister Aslov noted that water resources are an indispensable component of sustainable development and a connecting element of sustainable development, and called for a comprehensive approach to their use and conservation for the benefit of future generations”, says the ministry’s message.
It is reported that minister has also expressed hope that the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028», its implementation and monitoring mechanisms, will help coordinate and increase the effectiveness of the measures taken and steps towards the achievement of sustainable development and integrated water resources management.
