M. Mahmadaminov attended the 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women
DUSHNABE, 18.03.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov on March 16 participated in and addressed the 61st session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
In his statement the Permanent Representative considered UN Commission on the Status of Women as the main intergovernmental forum for promotion of gender equality, empowerment of women and increasing their participation in all spheres of life.
The Head of the Tajik delegation introduced the achievements of the country in efficiently implementing its gender policy aimed at providing equal rights and opportunities for women and girls, as well as the “National Strategy for Activization of the Role of Women in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2011-2020”.
M. Mahmadaminov also stressed the importance of the participation and full involvement of all relevant stakeholders, including women in the implementation of the “International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028” which was supported by 177 UN member states in December 2016.
