Tajik Foreign Minister Meets UN Water Conference Co-organizers in New York
On 18 March 2026 in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, held a meeting with the co-organizers of the 2026 United Nations Water Conference and the Co-Chairs of its Interactive Dialogues.
According to the Foreign Ministry of the country, during the conversation, Minister Muhriddin emphasized the pivotal role of the Co-Chairs, noting that their leadership will be essential in steering substantive and balanced discussions, as well as in ensuring that the outcomes of the Conference adequately reflect the priorities and expectations of Member States and all relevant stakeholders.
He also highlighted the significance of the initiatives put forward by the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, aimed at advancing the global water agenda. In this context, particular attention was given to the preparations for the Fourth Dushanbe Water Conference, scheduled for 25–28 May 2026, and participants were invited to take an active part in its work and contribute to its outcomes.
For their part, the co-organizers of the 2026 United Nations Water Conference and the Co-Chairs of the Interactive Dialogues, including United Nations Under-Secretary-General Mr. Li Junhua, Co-Chair of the Dushanbe Water Conference, expressed their support for Tajikistan’s initiatives and reaffirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation in the field of sustainable water resources management.
