The meeting of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the  Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif took place in the margins of the 13th ECO Summit in Islamabad today.

The sides expressed joy over the new meeting and good occasion to have sincere conversation during which they discussed the current state and prospects of further expansion of multifaceted relations within the framework of regional and international organizations.

It was also expressed satisfaction over the expansion of interstate ties and stressed that a continuous dialogue at the highest political level is the basis for strengthening cooperation between the two
friendly countries in all fields.

The two sides exchanged views on the implementation of the high-voltage electricity transmission line – CASA-1000, attracting investment opportunities of Pakistan to hydropower, infrastructure, transport and transit projects of Tajikistan, as well as on expansion of trade between the two countries within China — Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Cooperation of Tajikistan and Pakistan was highly commended within the  framework of international and regional organizations, in particular the UN, SCO, ECO and OIC.

The interlocutors also determined to strengthen security cooperation in the fight against international terrorism and extremism, illegal drug trade, as well as touched upon further ensuring of peace and
stability in Afghanistan.
