Grant Agreement on “Promotion of Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities in Hissar City” signed in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 17.06.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) begins one year project on inclusive education for children with disabilities in Hissar, Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Tajikistan reports.
According to the source, the signing ceremony, which took place on the 16th of June 2017, was attended by Latofat Naziri, Deputy of the Minister of Education and Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Takashi KAMADA, Counselor of the Embassy of Japan to the Republic of Tajikistan, representatives of Hissar City Department of Education, partner organization, and partner schools.
“Through the close cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan and Hissar City Department of Education, AAR Japan aims at supporting the current efforts of the government of the Republic of Tajikistan for inclusive education, defined in the “National Conceptual Framework for the Inclusive Education of Children with Disabilities in the Republic of Tajikistan for the period from 2011 to 2015”. In this project, AAR Japan will install handrails, wheelchair ramps, and renovate bathrooms in the school buildings of the School No. 2 and No. 5 of Hissar City in order to enhance the accessibility for students with disabilities”, — says the message.
Besides the barrier free renovations, wheelchairs, assistive devices, and educational materials will be provided to the resource classrooms allocated by those two schools. To strengthen the capacity of the human resources for inclusive education and encourage the inclusion of students with disabilities at mainstream schools, seminars, trainings, and awareness raising activities will be conducted.
