President Emomali Rahmon attends high-level event “Strengthening partnership for sustainable development achievement in the face of modern threats and challenges”
The Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon attended and spoke at the high-level event “Strengthening partnership for sustainable development achievement in the face of modern threats and challenges”.
The international event was attended by the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, representatives of regional and international organizations, the diplomatic corps accredited in Dushanbe, and other officials.
In his address at the conference, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon characterized the visit of the UN Secretary-General to Tajikistan and holding of the high-level event -“Strengthening partnership for sustainable development achievement in the face of modern threats and challenges” as a good opportunity for better and real familiarization with Tajikistan, as well as with the efforts of our Government to achieve sustainable development and its strong position in addressing modern challenges and threats.
It was stressed that the adoption of the global agenda for sustainable development until 2030 by the United Nations General Assembly took place at a time when millions of people are exposed to the risks and threats of religious and geopolitical wars and conflicts in various parts around of the world and the main objectives of today’s event being strengthening and deepening of cooperation and partnership for achievement of the sustainable development goals are closely linked with joint efforts to address modern threats and ensure lasting peace and stability.
President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon pointed out that in such circumstances no nation alone is able to succeed in countering the security risks and threats, and ensuring peace and stability, and added that «we believe that we are able to combat the international terrorism and extremism and ensure comprehensive security and stability only by strengthening mutual cooperation and partnership and taking collective efforts at the regional and global levels».
President Emomali Rahmon also highlighted in his address that Tajikistan as an active member of the United Nations for its part is ready to enhance constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with all countries of the world and international organizations, including the relevant institutions of the United Nations.
In conclusion of his address, the head of state Emomali Rahmon, recalling the international initiatives of Tajikistan related to addressing global water and ecological problem, expressed hope that in the process of implementation of the new International Decade, the goals and tasks of which are aimed for the benefit of all peoples in the planet, we will enjoy the fruitful cooperation and partnership.
In his address the Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres thanked President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon for organizing this important event and consistency on the way to solve important and urgent problems of the modern world.
