Borussia Dortmund beat new-look AC Milan in ICC opener in China
DUSHANBE, 19.07.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. AC Milan may have made 10 signings this summer already but they were well beaten by Borussia Dortmund in the first International Champions Cup clash in China on Tuesday, ESPN reports.
Milan lined up with new arrivals Ricardo Rodriguez and Franck Kessie in the XI, with Hakan Calhanoglu coming on as a substitute, and the Donnarumma brothers, Gianluigi and Antonio, benched.
But Dortmund needed just 16 minutes to make the breakthrough as teenage sensation Christian Pulisic set up Nuri Sahin to score.
Pulisic was then fouled by Gabriel Paletta in the box and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang — linked with a move to Chelsea but according to reports in Germany now set to stay with BVB — stepped up to hammer home the penalty.
Carlos Bacca pulled one back for Milan in the 26th minute after curling a low shot into the bottom corner but Milan went into the break 2-1 behind.
Pulisic provided his second assist of the night as Aubameyang pounced to grab his second goal in the 64th minute, before a host of substitutions saw Mario Gotze continue his return from long-term injury and replace Sebastian Rode.
Young striker Alexander Isak replaced Pulisic late on and Dortmund held firm to record a win.
