SCO Ministers of emergency situations to discuss disaster risk reduction in Kyrgyzstan
DUSHANBE, 24.08.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Heads of emergency situations departments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries will discuss on August 24-25 in Kyrgyzstan the problems of reducing the risks of natural disasters and other catastrophes. It is reported by the press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The ninth meeting will be held in Cholpon-Ata city, located on the coast of the Issyk-Kul Lake. “The goal of the event is to further strengthen cooperation between the emergency departments of the SCO member states in the field of disaster risk reduction”, the report said.
Leaders and representatives of relevant structures of India, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have already arrived in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the meeting. “The leaders of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO), the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction in Almaty and representatives of the government of our republic are also invited to the meeting”»the press release says.
“On August 25, as part of the meeting, it is planned to conduct demonstrations of the fire and rescue units of the Cholpon-Ata city (including practical measures with elements of rescue on water) and hold underwater technical works on the Issyk-Kul Lake”, — the press service of the Kyrgyz MES reports.
