DUSHANBE, 08.09.2017. / NIAT “Khovar”/. Today, in the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Emomali Rahmon received the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Yuri Khachaturov, who visited Tajikistan for the first time as the head of this organization.

The meeting discussed issues related to preparations for the next meeting of the heads of member states of the Organization to be held in Minsk on November this year, as well as other topics of mutual interest.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the fulfillment of the work on establishing a unified cooperation mechanism between the participating states in the field of defense and security, implemented within 25 years after the signing of the Collective Security Treaty and 15 years after establishment of the Organization.

The parties had an exchange of views on the common position of the member states of the Organization on the current situation and future of Afghanistan, the strengthening of the state border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan in order to ensure the protection of the state borders and other hot spots in the world, intensifying joint fight against the escalation of terrorism, extremism and other regional and global threats and challenges.

The meeting also discussed the collective cooperation of the relevant structures of member states in the field of increasing the effectiveness of the joint operational search operations.
