DUSHANBE, 04.12.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. On December 2 current year, at 19:10, an armed breakthrough of a group of Afghan drug smugglers into the territory of Tajikistan was prevented at the frontier detachment No.2 “Bahorak” border detachment “Shuroobod” (Shamsiddin Shohin district).
On the demand of the Tajik border guards the armed violators of the state border responded with dense weapons fire. As a result of the shooting, the commander of the frontier detachment, Colonel Ahtamov Khayriddin died heroically and four servicemen received injuries. Three Afghan smugglers were killed in response and others managed to escape. At the scene of the incident, four Kalashnikov assault rifles and more than 33 kg of narcotic substances were found and seized. Additional reinforcements arriving on the scene of the incident are being carried out operational-search activities with regard to the remaining armed drug-smugglers.
Colonel Ahtamov Kh. was buried on December 3 in the Farkhor district. The memory of the deceased officer, the defender of the Motherland, will forever remain in our hearts.
The border guards, wounded during the detention, are hospitalized and provided with necessary medical services. Their condition is consistently satisfactory.
