Tajikistan chaired the first meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiaries of the CIS Member States
DUSHANBE, 05.02.2018. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The first meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiaries of the CIS member states at statutory and other Commonwealth bodies was held under the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan. The meeting took place in the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk on January 30. NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
The Chairman of the Council, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to statutory and other CIS bodies Mahmadsharif Haqdod noted that according to the Decision of the Council of CIS heads of state dated 11.10.2017, functions of presidency in the CIS are carried out by the Republic of Tajikistan. The concept of the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan in the CIS and the Action Plan for its implementation provides for a whole range of activities aimed at deepening cooperation and activating the integration processes within the CIS.
According to the agenda, the members of the Council of Permanent Representatives agreed on the draft agenda of the next meeting of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers, scheduled for April 6 in Minsk, and approved the Council’s work plan for 2018.
The members of the Council also discussed the possibility of updating the provisions of the Concept for the CIS Further Development, approved by the decision of the Council of CIS heads of state on October 5, 2007, prospects for the development of the CIS legal framework and coordinated the candidacies of the heads of the CIS observer mission in the election of the President of the Russian Federation (18.03.2018) and deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan (25.03.2018).
Following the meeting, the participants approved the date and draft agenda of the regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives of the Commonwealth member states at the statutory and other CIS bodies.
