Thanks to the political will and support of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, there has recently been a noticeable trend in improving relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, a concrete example of the implementation of the agreements reached between the heads of the two states was the solemn opening of 9 checkpoints on the Tajik-Uzbek State Border on March 1, 2018.
The automobile checkpoints “Sarazm” of Tajikistan (“Jartepa” of Uzbekistan), “Ura-Tube” (“Kushkent”), “Havotogh” (“Uchqurghon”), “Zafarobod” (“Havastobod), “Hashtyak” (Bekobod”), “Navbunyod” (“Pap”), “Ravot” (“Ravot”), «Ayvoj” (“Gulbahor”) and the “Khoshadi” (“Amuzang”) railway checkpoint resumed functioning.
As it is expected, the first passenger train on the route “Kulob – Moscow” will pass through the “Khoshadi” (“Amuzang”) railway checkpoint as early as March 7, 2018.
The opening of border points was held in a solemn and friendly atmosphere with the participation of officials of the two countries, as well as residents of border areas.
This event, which was eagerly awaited by the fraternal peoples of the two states, will further significantly facilitate the mutual trips of citizens, which will contribute to the implementation of the kinship ties of the friendly peoples of the two countries. This will create favorable conditions for deepening good-neighborly and mutually beneficial relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
