New York hosted regular meeting of the Group of Friends of Water
DUSHANBE, 06.03.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. A regular meeting of the Group of Friends of Water was held on March 5 at the UN headquarters in New York. It was chaired by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov. NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations.
“The meeting along with the members of the group also heard a speech by the Head of the Staff of the President of the UN General Assembly F. Ruzicka, the Special Representative of the High-Level Panel on Water Issues J. Kunjul and others”, — the message said.
M. Mahmadaminov presented detailed information on the implementation of the new initiative of the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon — the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028”, as well as on upcoming events, in particular, on the beginning of the Decade (March 22, 2018, New York) and the International Conference on Decade implementation (June 20-22, 2018, Dushanbe).
The meeting also heard the reports of the F. Ruzicka on the preparation of joint activities of Tajikistan and the Office of the President of the UN General Assembly — the official launch of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028”, J. Kunjul on the details of the High-level Panel on Water and other members of the Group of Friends of Water. The representatives of the United States, Russia, Canada, Finland, Qatar and other countries also made speeches on the agenda of the program of the meeting.
